In a nutshell, the Ruger Mark IV Tactical is a heavy-barreled Mark IV with a threaded muzzle and accessories. The Mark IV has a few updates from the original model, but it still has the heart. The Mark IV Tactical is a .22 pistol, and you'll notice it when you pick it up. This pistol looks like a real pistol, whereas the current .22 pistols seem light for rifles of their size.
The rifle that launched Ruger was inspired by the Japanese Nambu of World War II, and today's Mark IV Tactical has the same lines and features. It is semi-automatic, operated by recoil, and feeds a single 10-round cartridge. The pistol includes a tube receiver that sits on top of the frame rather than a slide and frame. A matching bolt assembly is located in the receiver and uses the assembly's captive return spring. The bolt is removed by pulling the two tabs that protrude from the rear of the receiver.

To disassemble the Ruger Mark IV Tactical, you simply close the bolt, remove the magazine, place the pistol in "Safety" and press the button under the bolt. The receiver/barrel assembly rotates and lifts the frame without the need for tools. Then pull the bolt assembly back and release the receiver. This allows for quick and easy cleaning of the receiver and hassle-free cleaning of the mouthpiece. Reassembly is just as easy.

The retracted spring assembly is easily removed and cleaned from the firing pin and puller bolt. Most closed receivers don't allow much abuse of the trigger and hammer mechanism. The internal hammer assembly sits on the rear of the frame, and comes out of a hole in the back of the hammer assembly to make contact with the firing pin - the AR-15's hammer is not as good as the bolt contact.
The classic Nambu feel of the Ruger Mark IV is intoxicating. The pistol's weight and handling profile is balanced between strength and quality, and no .22 pistol quite like it. Its ergonomic properties have won the hearts and money of shooters for decades, and I think it should.

Mark IV tactical points are direct and happy to shoot each other. Learning the two-handed shooting style and grip is unnatural. The grip is very good, if you want to show off "downhill" with a Glock pistol, wait until you get one of these. It's not inconvenient, however - as many pistol designs of the time were, this series of pistol designs seems to have been drawn with single-handed operation in mind. Later Ruger Mark IV 22/45 models modified the frame to fit a 1911-sized grip.

Now when I shoot a Ruger Mark IV Tactical with a thumb grip, I sometimes feel like I misunderstand the safety level on the right side of the pistol. Someone at Ruger must have experienced this because the correct switch can be moved. The Mark IV was designed to assist right-handed shooters at the time. The bolt catch handle and magazine catch button are on the left side of the frame and do not slide back. All the controls on the Mark IV Tactical were crisp and clean, but the bolt on my model was annoying when it wasn't engaged.
The tag on my Mark IV is 3kg, 9oz with a bit of travel before the weight. The reset button is slick, but there isn't much spring pressure to move the wheel into the reset position, so you have to move your finger without letting it rest and push the trigger back to the start. point.

The Ruger Mark IV Tactical's slim magazine collection hasn't changed much in 75 years. They are effective and work well, but you can get them back if you shoot a lot. A 10-round capacity gets old quickly, and the lack of mags makes it even faster - guns were never designed with that in mind.
The Ruger Mark series is popular for its accuracy, especially in standard designs. The cowhide profile barrel is heavy and nearly an inch in diameter. This and the pistol's wide range make it easy to shoot accurately. The metal sights that come on the Mark IV Tactical are adjustable for windage and elevation, but nothing special. They are plain and bright blue and finished with ribbons on the front and back. These sights aren't meant to be shot at local bull groups, but they're built to last. Also, if the optical rail doesn't point you in the right direction, whoever buys this gun has a red dot in mind. However, if you like the look you can change it to something that suits your taste.
I had a good time shooting metal targets at 25 yards with the iron sights, but adding the Athlon Midas TSR1 red dot made the group tighter. Accuracy is a bit different than popular, but it generally kills everything well. He's got a good aim instead of practicing hooking up an amazing set of 6-inch Spoiler Alert targets.

If there's one downside to the Ruger Mark IV Tactical's optic rail, it's over. Maybe you could—no, of course—put a gun on it. I like the intensity, but it makes the vision a little harder than it needs to be. By installing a rail clip, each red dot you install will sit over the hole. This makes it slower and more difficult to get the dot in the viewport. Light rail has the same problem. I like how easy it is to match all the lights out there, but that's it
